Root Canals: Relief Starts Here
Let’s clear something up: root canals aren’t what they used to be. In fact, they’re one of the most effective—and surprisingly comfortable—ways to relieve pain and save a tooth that’s badly damaged or infected.
At Harbor City Dental, we use modern techniques and technology to make root canal treatment as efficient and pain-free as possible. If you're dealing with a toothache that won’t quit, this might be the solution that gets you out of pain and back to feeling like yourself.
What Is a Root Canal, Really?
Inside every tooth is a small chamber filled with nerves and soft tissue (called the pulp). If this area becomes infected—usually due to deep decay, a crack, or trauma—it can cause serious discomfort and eventually lead to tooth loss if left untreated.
A root canal removes the damaged pulp, cleans and disinfects the inside of the tooth, and seals it to prevent future issues. The tooth is then usually restored with a crown for strength and long-term protection.
Signs You Might Need a Root Canal
Persistent or severe tooth pain
Sensitivity to hot or cold that lingers
Swelling or tenderness in the gums
A darkened or discolored tooth
Pain when biting or chewing
A bump (abscess) on the gums
If you’re experiencing any of these symptoms, we’ll take a look and let you know if a root canal is necessary—or if there’s another solution.
What to Expect During Treatment
Comfort First: We’ll numb the area completely and offer comfort options if you’re anxious.
Cleaning the Infection: Using precision tools, we’ll remove the damaged tissue and clean the inside of the tooth.
Sealing & Protection: The tooth is sealed to prevent reinfection, and we’ll place a custom crown to restore strength and function.
Most root canals are completed in just one or two visits, and many patients return to normal activities the same day.
Root Canals Save Teeth
A root canal can help you avoid an extraction and keep your natural tooth for years to come. It’s not just about stopping the pain—it’s about preserving your smile.
